The power of communities

We are all part of various communities. You have a family, parents, a partner and perhaps children, you likely have at least a few friends and might have colleagues too. Many of us attend various clubs or communities, let they be organized around a sport, religion or other leisure time activity. All of us belong to various communities.

The simplest and likely most impactful action we can all do is to speak about the climate situation in our various communities. By bringing climate topics to discussions we can learn how others think and cope with the situation. We might receive questions that we did not know about, and occasionally we might even find people who still think that the climate change is not our fault or that we should not care about it (others might will solve it).

What to speak about

Feel free to speak about anything that you are comfortable speaking about. You don’t have to be an expert in the topic. Moreover, it’s wise idea to acknowledge that you are not an expert, but someone very interested and impacted by the topic. Just ask the questions that interest you or share your own opinion about various topics. As you learn more about the different aspects of climate change and how humanity tries to cope with it, you will be able to participate in deeper conversations.

How to deal with climate change deniers

Never argue with a fool

Depending on your mood, you can take various approaches. It’s often advise to simply ignore the people who deny climate change or it being induced heavily by human behavior. If you know how to laugh at people, that’s a fair approach too. Getting into a discussion often does not make any sense as climate deniers typically follow conspiracy theories or totally made up fantasma about the topic, and they are not ready for a discussion.
